Blackbird soars at Olivier Awards

David Harrower’s stunning and gripping drama, Blackbird has won Best New Play at the 2007 Olivier Awards.

Originally commissioned for and produced at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2005, directed by Peter Stein, it won great acclaim from audiences and critics alike, also winning at the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland. It then transferred to the Albery in 2006 with the same cast of Roger Allam and Jodhi May.

Next month it will open in New York, directed by Tony award winner Joe Mantello at the MTC. Bringing the tally of countries having staged or planning a production to 19.
