Bank of Scotland is delighted to be celebrating 10 years of sponsorship of the Fireworks Concert, the grand finale of the Edinburgh International Festival performed by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, with entertainment for all the family at the Bank of Scotland Family Viewing Area in Inverleith Park.
Year on year, the Bank of Scotland Family Viewing Area attracts thousands of visitors looking for a superb vantage point away from the city centre crowds. This year Bank of Scotland hope to attract even more visitors by making Inverleith Park the place to go for a great day out for the whole family!
Activity at Inverleith Park begins at 3pm, this free non ticketed event will feature children’s entertainment, The Edinburgh Farmer’s Market, Chainsaw Sculptures and Radio Forth will be broadcasting live from 6pm onwards.
And for the first time ever there will be a giant screen relaying the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s performance live from 9pm ensuring that all who attend enjoy the same fantastic experience.
Earlier in the day, the screen will also be showing a specially commissioned piece of film about Connecting to Music, Edinburgh International Festival initiative sponsored by Bank of Scotland designed help young children develop a greater understanding of classical music. This short film is aimed at giving all those, young and old, attending Inverleith Park some background information on Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, the piece of music that will be performed by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra to accompany the fireworks display that evening.
Volunteers from Bank of Scotland’s Charity of the Year, Children 1st and Bank of Scotland staff will be making a collection on Princes Street and in Inverleith Park. Every pound collected on the evening will be matched pound for pound by the HBOS Foundation. Sammy Sunshine, Children 1st’s mascot, will also be putting in an appearance in Inverleith Park.
