Assassin Tree cast announced

The cast is now confirmed for The Assassin Tree, the first opera by young Scottish composer Stuart MacRae, premiering on Friday 25 August 2006 at the Royal Lyceum Theatre.
The four-strong cast are:
Kathleen Ferrier Award winning Canadian soprano Gillian Keith, who recently made her Royal Opera House debut as Titania in Britten's A Midsummer Night’s Dream to great acclaim and sparkled as Woodbird in Scottish Opera's Ring Cycle, is Diana.
New Zealand baritone Paul Whelan, past winner of the Lieder Prize in the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, and last seen at the EIF in 2001 as Panthée in Berlioz’s The Trojans, sings the role of the King Priest.
Tenor Peter Van Hulle, who will be familiar to Scottish Opera regulars, sings the role of the Slave and Canadian tenor Colin Ainsworth completes the cast as the Youth.
The Assassin Tree been commissioned and will be staged by the EIF and the Royal Opera House in a co-production with Scottish Opera.
