This evening's £10, 1-hour concerts at the Usher Hall are Beethoven Symphony No 6, 'Pastoral' at 5.30pm; Brahms Piano Concerto No 1 at 7:30pm, part of the Masterwork series; and Bruckner Symphony No 4, 'Romantic' at 9:30pm. The Scotsman called this 'a series that really shouldn't be missed.'
Alarmel Valli & Madhavi Mudgal
Tonight is the second and final night of Samanvaya, 'a coming together'. The Herald described it as 'an ecstatic celebration of the senses'; The Scotsman said 'Samanvaya is a pleasure to watch from start to finish.'
The show starts at 8.00pm Royal Lyceum Theatre, and a limited number of tickets are still available direct from the venue or to pick up in person from The Hub's box office. You might like to listen to an MP3 of Alarmel Valli and Madhavi discussing their work, from Sunday's event in the Conversations with Artists series.
Tonight also sees the return of Bruno Beltrão's Grupo de Rua de Niterói, performing H2 for the first of two nights at The Edinburgh Playhouse from 8pm. The Evening News called their production of Telesquat, which closed on Saturday, 'The festival's hottest dance ticket for years,' while the Guardian said 'Bruno Beltrao has become the new dance name to watch from Brazil, promising an intriguing fusion of modern dance and hip-hop and contemporary satire.'
At 7:15pm, a sold-out performance of Tchaikovsky's Mazeppa kicks off at Edinburgh Festival Theatre.
