Music
- This morning's 11.00am concert in the Bank of Scotland Queen's Hall Series features Christian Zacharias giving a recital of works by Mozart, Ravel and Schubert.
- The Minnesota Orchestra play works by Barber, Beethoven and Stravinsky at the Usher Hall from 8pm.
Theatre
- Troilus and Cressida, directed by Peter Stein, continues at the Kings Theatre at 7.30pm. The Scotsman called this 'as lavishly meticulous a tribute to this great and disturbing play as British audiences are likely to see for decades to come.'
- Long Life, New Riga Theatre's play without words, is at The Hub at 7.30pm. This week's performances are sold out, but tickets are still available for next week.
Opera
- Stuart MacRae's new opera, The Assassin Tree, premieres today. With a libretto by the poet Simon Armitage, it is performed by the Britten Sinfonia and conducted by Garry Walker. To give you a taster of the production, we have a gallery of images from it.

- Today's Lunchtime Talk is on Messiaen's Des Canyons aux Etoiles, which is performed this Sunday by the NJO Summer Academy. This afternoon's Conversation with an Artist is with Richard Goode, who also gives a Lecture Recital of Beethoven's Piano Sonata in A flat this Sunday.
