Edinburgh International Festival announces Festival dates for 2007.
Jonathan Mills, Festival Director today announced the 2007 Edinburgh International Festival will run from Friday 10 August to Sunday 2 September, with the traditional Opening Concert, sponsored by long time supporters Scottish & Newcastle, now on the Friday evening two days earlier than previously.
The popular grand finale the Bank of Scotland Fireworks Concert, performed against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, will close the Festival on Sunday 2 September.
Jonathan Mills, Festival Director said, ‘This gives us the opportunity to add another weekend to the Festival. We will now open with the concert in the Usher Hall on the Friday night followed on Saturday and Sunday by a full programme of performances allowing us to give hundreds if not thousands more people over that weekend the chance to come to the city and see an International Festival show.’
The full Festival programme, including details of the Opening Concert, will be released on Wednesday 28 March 2007.
